The new Avila centre opened in late November 2006. The focus in the new centre is on day retreats and courses. There is accommodation for self-catering retreats with eight en-suite rooms and two hermitages. Spiritual accompaniment is available from community members.

Charismatic Prayer Meeting

Avila is also home to two Secular Order groups and a thriving Charismatic Prayer Meeting. The Prayer Meeting has been in existence since the 70s and attracts a large number of people for its Wednesday night (8.00 p.m.) meeting. The Alzheimer Café, an international concept, is being launched in Ireland.

The Alzheimer Café is a safe and relaxed place where people with dementia, their families and health and social care professionals come together for a unique blend of education and support. It is a forum where people can exchange experiences and talk about dementia.

The Alzheimer Cafe is held on the second Thursday of every month
Time and venue: 7pm - 9pm, Avila Carmelite Centre, Donnybrook, Dublin 4

Conference of Religious in Ireland

The former Avila building is now home to the Conference of Religious in Ireland.
The Conference of Religious of Ireland (CORI) is an organisation which serves the leadership of religious congregations. It encourages and facilitates leaders, and their members, to fulfil the Gospel mission in an ever changing world. For more information about CORI, click here
